Important Notice for Our U.S. Customers

A 10% Tariff is now included at checkout for all US customers.
The Tariff is shown as Duty at checkout.

This Duty is calculated on the (Country of Origin and HS Code of products) $ value of product declared as well as $ value of shipping costs. When declaring $ value of goods and shipping cost, we must declare in Australian $ Value.

Shopify's tariff calculation is based on the product's country of origin, not the merchant's currency, because tariffs are customs duties applied to imported goods based on where they were made, regardless of the seller's location. Shopify uses the country of origin, along with the product's Harmonized System (HS) code, to accurately calculate potential import taxes and duties that will be applied by the destination country's customs authorities. (As if this wasn't confusing enough!) 

All Hand Dyed Fabrics and Project Bags are made In Australia. (Even though Zweigart is a German Company, Colour Cascade fabrics changes the product considerably from basic fabric to coloured so it is considered Australian Made. If I was just selling the white fabric as it comes to me it would be considered German country of origin which would then incur a 15% tariff). 


All other items such as DMC (France is 15% tariff) and Charts (this will vary in tariff range as charts come from different countries all over the world) have a country of origin attached to them and may incur higher tariff rates. Any items that are made in US will have no tariff attached to them at checkout. (US items include Q Snaps and some designs)

I hope this helps you understand a little bit of how the duty is calculated as it is not a flat calculation of 10% on the goods purchased (It also includes 10% on shipping). There is a lot of factors the US Border uses to calculate, and Shopify has made sure that you the customer does not get hit with any unexpected charges when it arrives on US soil. All Duties paid at checkout covers the new Tariff charges and processing fees and ensures there are no hiccups or extra charges on delivery of your goods.
